Ramat Bet Shemesh

In 2011 Y.G. Contract Archaeology investigated this site, under the direction of archaeologist Yitzhak Marmelstein and the academic auspices of the Hebrew Union College. Located in the Judean Hills near Ramat Bet Shemesh (and the former village of Beyt Natif), the site included several features of unclear function. Due to extensive ongoing construction work, a very large number of archaeological remains from all periods have been investigated in the area. This data has been synthesized in several very interesting and useful publications (see report bibliography) which present a rich and nuanced picture of land use in this region over the millennia. The current project is a contribution to that growing pool of data.
