In January 2013 Y.G. Contract Archaeology Ltd. carried out a rescue excavation – under the direction of archaeologist Achia Kohn-Tavor – on the northern slopes of Mount Gilboa. These investigations revealed a range of ancient features – paths, terrace walls, boundary lines, stone clearance piles, rock-hewn tombs – which reflect activities carried out on the periphery of the nearby long-occupied village of Nuris..
